Couture Cardigan Jacket – Inspired by ‘CHANEL’
10 Weeks – Friday mornings 10.00 – 1.00pm
3hrs per week (total 30 hours)
Starts: Autumn 2018
Have you dreamed of having your own ‘CHANEL’ style cardigan jacket? Well now you can!
With less structure than a traditionally tailored jacket but with the comfort of a cardigan, Mdme Coco Chanel designed the iconic jacket worn and loved by many. An original Chanel jacket can cost thousands of pounds and out of reach for many of us, but although the exact construction methods used by Chanel is a very closely guarded secret you can create your own classic design using couture methods and learning how to achieve a professional finish with inner construction techniques. This jacket is traditionally made from a boucle/tweed type fabric.
By choosing your own fabrics, adding pockets, trimmings, sleeve and hem lengths you will design and plan your very own timeless jacket. You will learn how to achieve a professional finish and gain confidence for your next projects.
On this course you will learn:
- About fabrics and trims
- The importance of making a toile,
- About stabilising
- Construction methods
- Quilting techniques
- How to attach the lining
- About hand stitching
- Couture finishes.
- and lots of hints and tips along the way!
By spreading this course over 10 weeks it will give you the time to work on your jacket between lessons.
